need help figuring out reverse light project details
Ok so first a description of what I want to do:
Since I have dark rear window tint I want to install an extra backup light in the rear rotary accent that I can cue on to help when it's really dark out. I'm looking to double my light output out the back, and to keep it "legal" I won't be hardwiring them into the existing circuit, but instead running the wiring from the circuit thru a relay.
I want to turn one of the dummy buttons by the steering wheel into a push button that temporarily locks the relay closed so that the light comes on and stays on after the button is pushed, but when I take the car out of reverse it turns off and stays off even if I put the car into reverse again. Again, the extra light comes on only after I push the button, this way I avoid attention from cops and it isn't exactly illegal.
So now that i've described it I have a few questions:
1) Is there enough power available to double the amount of light I can put out?
2) What is the voltage and what would be the best lights to use back there?
3) What kind of relay do I need for this?

The Professor
You could probably just get away with it by staggering two regular relays, I'm sure there is a special part out there somewhere that does this, but I'm not too big on specialty electrical wiring right now.
But if I was going to do it, I would try and get my hands on an OEM DSC button, then just make a pretty little label on the front, fits right in no mess.
To answer two of your questions
1) yes
2) Wattage? I would go 30-40 watt. I think the foglamps are like 65watt or something just to give you a comparison.
