Need help-Dropped part
OK so I'm changing the oil and filter and I drop a half inch to quarter inch adapter where the filter goes. How do I retrieve it? We can not see it and when I hit the plastic shield (piece?) under the car it does not appear to be sitting on that piece. I assume there are no moving parts to screw up but will not take any chances so I'm grounded until I find it. I did search so pls flame if this has been covered. Thanks!

I also didn't think there were any moving parts there, but today I exit the driveway drive down the street take a turn and then all of a sudden I hear rattling/grinding noises, pulled over and shut the car off. Looked to see if I could see anything, nope couldn't see a thing. Got back in, 3 or 4 times I went to start it it would just thump, and not turn like it was hitting some sort of wall. Finally did get it to turn over and start, and turned around to go back home, heard some noise and though I had lost the socket piece because the rattling/grinding stopped. So I took it around the block and the noise returned intermittently. Can not see a thing, am going to put it back on the ramps and try to attack it from below. Does the clutch slave move, could the socket piece be interfering with the slave?

take out your starter and look inside, use a Craftsman Lighted Inspection Mirror.
and use the Flexible Magnetic Pick-Up Tool to take it out.
