Thumbs down Need DIY to disable annoying seat belt beeps!

According to the manual, there is a way to do that, but I can't find any mention of it anyplace I've looked. Can anybody tell me where I can find this info?

Thanks in advance,

Ngo: your parents would be proud to know that you didn't know about the seatbelt chime. (means you always buckle up)

Wink Thanks, Stealth...

...for the useful reply.

For everybody else: While I appreciate knowing that all of you are virtuous in these matters, I'll make my own decisions as to when I wear my seatbelt.

While I appreciate your frustration at the chime, the law is the law for a reason, and the car is trying to remind you of that.. and your safety. What you want to do is like removing the airbags because they waste valuable storage space..

Be safe out there...

I also did not know there was a seatbelt chime. When I first hopped into this thread I figured it was like my old ford when just leaving the door closed without a seatbelt buckled in was annoying as heck for just sitting in there and talking to someone or whatever. guess this refers to when people are driving.

When you start the engine, if your seat belt is not buckled, it will chime for like 5 seconds.

I always wear my seatbelt. It's so engrained that it feels weird to drive the car without it (say, moving it up the driveway). HOWEVER, my routine for getting in the car is sit down, start the engine, THEN put on seatbelt. So for the couple seconds it takes me to do that, I hear the annoying chime.

So, anyone know of a good way to do this short of ripping out the buzzer?

Some people just don't get it. At least they'll be more "comfortable" when darwin kicks in.

I have a good excuse for never wearing a seatbelt. When I was in Iraq, it was the law not to wear a seat
belt while driving a hmer just incase you got hit by an ied you could jump out fast. guess I'm just brain washed after the two years I was deployed there. Btw, I have a 2004 8 and mine never beeps at me for not wearing my seat belt. I simply would not have bought it if it did. Just my opinion... I guess I have post Iraq anti seat belt syndrom.

My 06 will beep non stop till you put your seat belt on. I know this cause sometimes I need to get my pesky wallet out and the seat belt makes it ruff.

Anyways I alwys wear my belt, nothing like saftly. I've seen a kid that didnt wear his seat belt. He got scalped on the windshield as he fell back into his seat after the car stopped, only thing that stopped him from flying out was that he broke both femurs (sp) on his steering wheel and slowly died as we called 911.

Also my buddy watched two people go head on at 40mph, he said the cars hit so hard they came off the ground and rolled a good 10 feet apart after. 1 guy jumped out screaming holding his arm cause the seat belt dislocated/broke it. The other driver was in the back seat of the car. My friend was struggling to get his door open to help him (my buddy is a firefighter). He couldnt get the driver side doors open so he ran around to the other side and opened the rear door to find the guys brain laying on the back seat.

You make the choice.

I'm just curious why someone would by a sports car and not want to be strapped in?

More power to you if you hate the idea of wearing it, but it just makes no sense to buy something that can throw you around and not want to stay in control.

I personally always wear my seatbelt, no matter what car im in, driver or passenger.
However, I think its total BS to make that a law to require people to wear seatbelts. If they dont wanna wear em, so what .. its their decision. So much for this being the land of the free. I have to have the government make all my decisions for me.
