Ok, so my throwout bearing in my tranny exploded and took out the pressure plate. It also dug some ugly deep groves into the sleeve it rides on. Whats the name of that sleeve? And any clue on the price of it?
I tried calling mazda but they won't sell me that piece, i must by the whole bell housing is what they say. anyone know if there's a specific reason for this, or is mazda trying to make some more money by selling them together? Is there like a crazy amount of springs, rubber bands, and paperclips in there that explode out as soon as you remove the plate?
And any clue on the price of a new tranny?

a new tranny cost about 3 or 4 K

Well the shaft/sleeve that the bearing rides on is apart of this plate that bolts to the back of the bell housing. No clue what its called though.
I know that mazda wants to sell me the bell housing for like 800+, and my mechanic say he'll sell me one of his 2 spare rx-8 trans one with 19k miles and the other with 12k miles for $600. i'm not sure which one he wants to install but regardless sounds like a plan.
what do you guys think? And i at least like to know what this part is called...

Clutch Cover
It is called a Clutch Cover...6 Speed 03-08 RX-8...it is about $100 USD.
Mazda Part Number Y611-16-220 and is held on by 7 Bolts to the Bell Housing (Inside)
