Modifications and Warrenty
I was on a test drive the service manager for my dealership this morning. We were looking for a rattle in the transmission tunnel that started after I had the damper heat sheild recall performed. Anyway he said he had an RX-8 owner getting ready to install a supercharger kit in his car. So I mentioned loss of warrenty and he said NO. He said its up the the dealer to some extent but as long as the motor doesn't blow up he will service it under warrenty. Basicly if the mod doesn't do any damage he will keep servicing the car. I didn't question him more as I was thinking of mods but the gist of the converstation is this:
Check with your service manager on mods you are planning. They might not care (i.e. carzoomer stage #) as long as it doesn't do any damage. I you have a problem thats not related to the modified parts they will probably do the work no questions asked. If you do have a problem and they can show the mod caused it your on your own for those repairs.
Just an intersting tidbits that might help some people make some changes to their cars.

When the first turbo RX7 came out a cust came in with a boost modifier installed and no conpression. After finding the apex seals damaged he left with a new eng and a $2500-3000 bill.
He only had 1500 miles on the car. You may ask to speak with a Mazda DSM Befor assuming this manager is right.

He was clear that if a mod could cause a failure you were going to pay but he wasn't going to nail you for a problem with some other part of the car just because you modded the engine. Window that doesn't work in general has nothing to do with any kind of engine mod. Still every dealer or service manager may be different.
