Hi guys,

I did a search on AC problems with the 2004 RX-8 and only found that everybody agrees it sucks big time. Well, today I used it for the first time since I bought my car and I am not sure if it even works! I repeatedly switched the AC button on and off while I had the air blasting at full power but could not see much of a difference in the temperature of the air being pumped out. With everybody complaining about the AC, however, now I am not ever sure if my AC is specially screwed up or that's normal. How bad exactly is everybody else's AC?

Also, I have recently started to notice a strange metalic noise my car makes for a second the instance it starts moving from a full stop. It sounds like metal on metal friction which worries me, I am wondering if there's something wrong with the transmission. The sounds is very short-lived and it only happens the instance the car starts moving and stops. Also, weirdly, it only does it when the car has been sitting still for a while. If I stop at a traffic light it wont happen, but every time I get into my car after it's being parked for a while it is sure to happen. Also it does it both when I am in first gear moving forward or in reverse, so may be its not from the transmission at all, but I have little other idea what it could be.

I think I'll take the 8 to the dealer next week to address both problems, but I thought I'll see what your guys' opinions are first.

Sounds like a good thing. Take it to the dealer.

Have the AC recharged.

It sucks big time.
