Leaving Rx8 garaged for a while

Hey guys... Just got my brand new titanium gray touring package 8... yay

I'm going to colorado for 10 weeks though.. I would take it.. but lot of people are advising me against driving it all the way to colorado.. even though I know it would be a wonderful drive... and take care of breaking in the car...

What kind of stuff do I need to do if I'm gonna leave it garaged for 10 weeks..??

The only thing I've read is run the a/c at least once a month for 10 min in the owner's manual...

Why not drive it to Colorado? This is a great road car. What are the supposed reasons for their faulty advice? Are they car experts? Ignore them!!

But if you MUST store it, do a couple of things. Don't worry about the A/C. That's not a big consideration. Connect a maintenance charger to the battery. Otherwise it will be stone dead in 10 weeks and that ain't good for a battery. Put a few extra pounds of air in the tires. If you have rodents in the garage, plug up the tail pipes and any other obvious entry points for the buggers--especially under the hood. Also wouldn't hurt to put a car cover on it if you happen to have one. That's about it in my opinion.

Put fuel stabilizer in the fuel tank and disconnect the battery terminal. That's what I do when I store my baby for the winter.

You should have a well trusted friend drive it once every two weeks, I know it can't be good on the fuel system to just be sitting there like that and also the oil inside the engine should be run through also. other than that it should be ok if it is going to be in a garage.

10 weeks is nothing...just park the damn thing.

If your battery is dead when you get back you needed a new one anyway.

If you were storing it for a few months then yea a trickle charge on the battery or disconnecting it, over inflating the tires or better yet raising it off the ground, completely filling the gas tank and master cylinder, changing the oil, spraying all exposed metal with WD-40 and a good coat of wax with a cover might be in order.
