Knock sensor

Does anyone know if there is a way to hack into the stock knock sensor to connect a light or some other indication of when knock is sensed? I have seen other aftermarket knock sensors that do this and was just wondering if ours had that capability already. If not, would an aftermarket knock sensor work for us to help ensure safe tunes?

im not sure, but check out hymee's scanalyser, his software should be able to read any parameter that the ecu sees and can display the info on a laptop

I wish someone would post a DYI on this, as I believe if you get rid of the sensors our cars would be faster. The sensors we have are too sensative and retard the timing when our car isn't knocking.

So does anyone know if this actually connects into the stock knock sensor or total standalone. Yea, it is ugly as sin, looks like it feel out of the ugly tree Hymees scanalyser doesnot sense the knock sensor or if it does I can not figure out how to do it. That would be great, if it did though.

Knock Retard is a Mazda Proprietary parameter we'll be able to retrieve in the version I'm currently working on. It doesn't give you a knock count -- it tells you if the PCM has retarded timing due to knock.

How soon do you think you guys will have the new version out? How will the upgrade work with current users? Thanks!

Chris
oh, and if the 8 ecu cannot retard timing and prevent knock, would we be able to tell that and know that she is knocking? Thanks
