just bought an 8
just bought an 8 today brought a honda mechanic he said he thought it all looked good finally got home from work today and started it It had a hard time starting about a 3 second start (if it was a piston car sounds like a bad battery/starter) its a 04 model rx8 however it does the same cold or warm start. Looks like it has new plugs oil is clean and no real engine noises. Im going to schedule a compression test at the dealership but I was wondering any opinion from you guys. Starting from the more likely. Car has 84,000 Miles on it now its a 6 spd m/t
much appreciated.
much appreciated.
The 8 needs plugs and coils every 30k miles. A slow start doesn't automatically mean low compression, but it never hurts to have it checked. Hopefully your new 8 is still under the 8 year 100k warranty in case it fails the test.

yeah I had just read over it all seems good except for I haven't checked with the recalls. The idle is good, powerband is great the only issue i have so far is the slow start. Love the car feels great handles great shifts smooth all seems well except for the slow start
Well keep your fingers crossed that either A) it is under the factory engine core extended warranty or B) it passes the compression test.
Any idea how old the spark plugs and coils are?

If the starting time is the same hot and cold, then it is unlikely to be directly from low compression. You could still have low compression, but with a failing compression score, you will have a longer hot start. If it's the same hot and cold, then it is typically either a weak battery or a failing starter.
