So I have a Mazda rx8 2004. I just got a cylinder misfire, they said I need new sparks, coils, and wires. My car just hit 100,000 and I haven't change anything since I got it aT 50,000 :0 . Well my question is would the ones from advance auto part work or not ?? I'm a girl and i know sum but not a lot :Wconfused

Mazmart has the whole package at a good price.

slvrstreak 03-03-2011 01:39 PM

they will work fine plus they have like a 2yr warranty on coils and 1yr warranty on plugs if im not mistaken
or u could go to o'reilly auto parts...their coils have a lifetime warranty :)
either one will work fine and there are plenty of step-by-step DIYs if u want to change them yourself and save some $$$

Thanks guys you all are awesome

Yep they are exactly the same and even have the same Mazda part number etched on the side.

Dont they sell the duralast brand? I figured that would be a worse choice than the oem coils.. I guess if they have a warranty then it doesn't matter if they die early.

slvrstreak 03-03-2011 08:13 PM

they sell NGK plugs

redline09 03-03-2011 08:25 PM

ngk is the best

Latina634 03-03-2011 09:46 PM

I'm getting the ngk thanks for the advise . I will keep you guys posted on how it went. I'm actually exited to do it myself, I will have a mechanic guide me just in case :)

To save even more money buy it online through their website and use their 15/20% coupon. You can still pick it up at a local store.

Nice!!!

Welcome,

You might not need the wires, I haven an 04 and did the plugs and coils, kept the OEM wires. Group here is right, not a bad job. There are several DIYs. Plugs through the wheel well is best approach. Hardest part for me was the coils, I got my son to do it because his hands are smaller than mine.

Some light reading in my signature. You are obviously not a new owner, but the background collection and suggestions for the first $100 have a lot of data.

@slvrstreak

Not true, at least not all the way true, until you said something, I did not know. I have avatars turned off at work, less explaining to do.
