Exclamation Interceptor X EMS?

Is this ecu really worth 1600 bucks??? I've read about it and it sounds great, but i've also heard great hp gains from cz products too, and they are much cheaper. Jw if any1 here has experience with this system, thnks.

Having had the CZ, I can tell you that the X ems is most likely worlds above it.

well, according to this thread

https://www.rx8club.com/mazsport-104/finally-plug-play-ecu-68392/

the unit wont be available till end of the month. also this unit gives you full control of ignition and spark, instead of spoofing the ecu into giving more fuel by adjusting the airflow reading.

If it really gives you the controls of all the above mentioned items for tuning it is worth every penny. Ask broke_apex_seal if he wishes he had this instead of the emanage.

Isnt HKS making the same type of thing except it has more resolution and has to be tuned by an authorized HKS dealer?

And is more expensive, yes.. The HAS TO BE TUNED by an HKS dealer is a deal-killer for most people.

just remember there are good points and bad points of each...

emanage... Good - can adjust the computer outputs, closed loop control for cruising/emissions, retains PCM saftey systems like knock control/overheating limp mode/ect
... bad - PCM can alter fuel settings on its own behind the emanages back

interceptor... Good - theoretically you should always have the correct a/f ratios since the PCM has no control anymore
.... bad - no control means no closed loop cruising mode, no knock retard, no overheating protection

yes, they have a piece available that does all this, but it is more expensive, can only be bought by certain hks dealers, and CAN ONLY BE TUNED BY SAME DEALERS, leaving the keys for tuning your car in their hands, not yours. granted this can be a good thing so someone who doesnt know what they are doing cant mess up your engine, but for the people out there with the technical expertise to tune, kinda leaves them up the creek without a paddle.

i agree with only being able to buy the unit from certain dealers, as they are trying to protect the value of their product, but to also have to pay to have that dealer tune it, and quite likely get screwed on the price, that's not cool

I do like the fact that it has a higher resolution though. It will allow you to tune the car more precisely.

What happens when you have one of these aftermarket ECU's installed and you take the car in to service and they try to flash it?

Depends on how good a relationship you develop with the owner of the dealership
