Like the title says...

The service manual isn't really specific for the Transverse member (the black strutbaresque deal right behind the oil pan) installation.

On the page before it, it says to suspend the engine for purposes of removing the front cross member (not the transverse), and then it says to remove the transverse.

But the install simply says, "Install the transverse member".

So is this with or without the engine suspended/lifted?

I ask because I had to remove the black bar and now it will not go on right. Only two of the outside bolts on each side can line up, while the inside bolt holes will not line up at all.

 

No. You do not have to raise the motor. You just bolt it up.

Are you sure it is not reversed and upsidedown?

In fact, on reflection, I gar-ran-tee that you have it reversed left to right and upside-down. I think I did the same thing once.

I'm positive that it's on correctly. One side's lip is a bit bent front an attempt on a U-haul car tow.

Well, would this cause a fitment issue, I'm scared I bent my frame or something.

The car was sitting for a over a month without it on. Then it was on jacks for a week. Then it was driven around for a week without it on.

Well the two long bolts on the outside are on nice and tight, and have been driving like this for a week now.

I had to take that thing off, it was the only way to get my car u-hauled to my city two hours away where I had to work the next day, when my clutch started slipping.

Is there a chance that it will even itself out by driving with the transverse installed with only the out two bolts in?

Is this something an alignment will compensate for if indeed I did bend the crossmember?

 

The very inside bolt on one end is a perfectly round hole. The other inside bolt hole on the bar though is pillshaped, is this right?
