Increase in horsepower or torque?

I recently bought my first rotary car. An rx8 and I love it. I just wanted to know if anyone has modded one and what works and what doesn't. I was planning to start this process next year, after all the facts are gathered. I don't want forced induction. I am looking for about a 75 horsepower increase. Also if anyone knows how to increase low end torque, I would appreciate it. thanks.

If it is not possible then what could be done without forced induction. I don't feel like maxing out the injectors for 5 psi.

Nitrous. But that's about it unless you go FI, even upgrading EVERYTHING concerning airflow, lightening all of the drivetrain parts, AND getting an accessport to tune it all might only net you 20-30hp.

A 55-shot of nitrous might be your best bet.

RB parts are nice and fun and all. They don't really do anything significant, except sound.

Best intake or exhaust is all subjective. Again, mostly based on sound and perhaps appearance.

If you don't want forced induction, you are severly limited by what you can do and your goal is not attainable. You aren't going to get more torque on account of the fact that torque has everything to do with engine displacement which the rotary doesn't have. That really leaves you with rpm getting higher to attain more power. However that only works on paper. In the real world we don't have bearings that could stand up to the revs needed to get 75 more horsepower nor do we have the internal clearances or intake manifold tuned to do it.

The reality is that you are limited and only have a couple of choices. If you don't want forced induction, you need to understand that you are going to spend a couple of thousand dollars to get about 20 more horsepower to the wheels max. Give of take a couple. The other option is that if you want the power increase, it's going to come down to forced induction. I don't list nitrous as an option as I have never found it to be one on the street but that's personal opinion.

that will cost you a nice penny and will gain you 5ish HP. givr a nice sound, good look, and a slightly quicker revving motor(which you can only tell revving in neutral)

Sir Smooshing,

I'm very surprised as to how kind people have been so far in the amount of info they've offered, including even a few paragraphs from RotaryGod himself, despite the fact that you're asking questions that are both easily answered by using the search function as well as very broad. Three minutes of reading the results to searching "20b swap" would give you plenty of answers....

20b swap = $15,000+ easy. Some of the crazy puerto ricans on the boards spent nearly $30,000 on a well done 20B swap.

If you don't want to consider FI for a price point of $8-10k.. then don't even dream about a 20b.

Nitrous is your only option... but that's a story of its own.

You will NOT get 75hp N/A no matter what other mods you do.

People have been nice to you, take that and do some research of your own.

I've got it.

Sold rocket boosters mounted in the fender vents. 75HP? how about 10,000 LBS of thrust.

Once Again Thank You All. I Am New And Didn't Know I Was Supposed To Bow Before Asking A Question. Depends on application. If you want the car fast, besides adding HP, you can also reduce the weight. No point to be fast only on the dyno machine. That's why some N/A track car can beat a factory car with FI mod.

i do believe teamrx8 got about 45-50whp increase. he had/has 226whp, most rx8s do about 175-180whp.

thats pretty impressive. 75 is a bit out of the question.
