Angry Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

So, went out to my car the other day and found someone decided to remove the stereo and try to steal the damn thing. The car has no insurance because it has a dealer plate on it.

they hammered something into the keyhole and f'd the ignition so the key wont turn, I took it to a locksmith and he couldnt crack it, but suggested finding another ignition with key and he could swap the tumblers to fit the key I have.

Does anyone know where I can purchase one? I looked online and found one on ebay but it was for a 05....not sure if thatll work.

the car is a 04 GT manual

any help would be greatly appreciated

were they trying to steal the stock stereo or aftermarket ?

cuz there is almost no point stealing the stock as it will ask you to input a code when it detects a different module, without it, stereo is useless.

even most aftermarket stereo has an option of inputing a code, I have it on mine, and I made some modifcations to the Radio itself so when they pull it without what I did, they will **** the radio up and it's will become completely useless.

why would they wanna **** with ur ignition cylinder when they just want the radio is beyond my imagination ... but small thieves are usually dumb, probably watched too much gone in 60 seconds and thought u just need to turn the thing and the car will move.

Your best is to find another one from a wrecked 04. they are all around, shouldn't be too hard to find. call junk yards up.

I had come across quite a few on ebay when I was looking for smart cards for mine. They came with the ignition and the keys so it should basically be plug and play plus a fee from your local locksmith to reprogram your new keys.
