detonating.. i have done the throttle body bypass, changed the oil to 10w30. but when i start to get on it almost full throttle first second gear, i hear a pinging/rattling noise about 6,000rpm. it has been there since i bought the car, it was brand new when i got it. and yes i have always ran 93 octane from a good gas station, racetrack. no cheap &#$^ could this be possible?

 

Chances are its something else. Does it do it in nuetral?

 

no it doesnt do it in neutral. it sounds fine there. it kinds sounds like the ignition sparking, i have the upgraded coils form mazsport. and i dont know if passanger side can be heard from.

 

Try putting your coils back to stock and see if anything changes.

 

it was doing this with the stock coils also... idk. i think its leaning out. but i guess the only way to find out is to get a tune, or COBB, a reflash wouldnt help from dealer you think? and i dont think they wil like the mods done to the car...

 

It's your ports opening up.

 

check heat shield on cat.

and how many miles on the car?

btw, i would run 87 amaco over 93 racetrack..

ok il check the heat sheild, that would make sense. its not really loud but its noticable. and "WHAT" is good gas?i have used diff. places, 7/11- flying J- racetrack- circleK- BP- and racetrack seems to make the car run smoother.
