So my key-less entry just randomly stopped on my 04 rx8 and I thought the battery was dead in the key fob so I replaced it and still no go. I ran it through the programing mode to try and reprogram it and still didn't work. I had the key fob tested to see if it was working and it is but the car won't pick it up. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Probably one of those testers in the AutoZone? I have an '04, as well, and both of my OEM key fobs stopped working, even with new batteries and reprogramming didn't work also. It's been almost a year, I haven't replaced it since I didn't mind using just the keys.

ya well i have been using my key for a while too. I had it tested at a dealership i dont know how they tested it. Would my best bet be just to by a new key fob?

 

Yes, if you read through the thread I had linked, the '04 key fob stopped working once the battery drained. A few were successful reprogramming it, however, the rest chose the '05 switch blade key.
