Hey guys... i have a '04 model with 120xxx miles on it with what i believe is the original engine. As i've been talking to other rx8 owners everyone seems to say the same thing, "you definetely have a new engine, you may just not know about it."

My question is, how do you tell if your engine has been replace at soem point? I looked inside the engine bay but i dont see any dealer stickers or anything that would indicate a nwe engine (mostly dealer recal authorized repair stickers, but i ran those thorugh google and are all mostly emissions stuff).

i'm the second owner and when i bought this i had teh carfax report and it didn't indicate anything like an engine swap (i'm sure a mazda dealership would have that show up on carfax right?). i haven't tried calling the dealer yet since my local dealer seems to be pretty crappy and have given me wrong advice before...

You will probably have to ask mazda, but don't ask them if it's been replaced. Just tell them that you want a full maintenance/repair history performed by Mazda.

 

Hmm... Ok, that's what I'll do then. Do you know if they charge you for them?

 

1.) Call Mazda.
2.) Give them your vin.
3.) Ask them the same question.
