How to make the woosh sound?

I'm not really good "under the hood" yet, I'm working on it.

Well, I kinda wondered how to make that "woosh" sound that I hear on some Civics when they are shifting (I assume it comes from the rev's when they go down?). I can hear it just a little bit on my 8,.. where does it come from, how to get it?

My first thought would be a passive NOS system but that's highly unlikely. Can you guys tell me what causes this? It's kick-***, I want it too

you mean like the "psssht" you hear from busses, but not as loud??

well, there are speakers that any ricer can throw in under the hood, but if you're talking about what that sound is from in a really hot setup, it's probably a blow-off valve on a turbo engine. it's a pressure release valve, which relieves the pressure in the system that the turbo has built up when the throttle is lifted, to prevent damage to the turbine.

Just giving you an idea what the FAKE blow-off-sound wakeech was referring to.

omg lol, neither I can believe someone would want to fake something like that. I sure as hell won't

Thx for explaining where it comes from makes sense

What are the words, are we going to see some turbo for the 8? I'm thinking of going back to germany in a couple of years and I have to be careful on choosing my equipment. Due to legal issues I wouldn't get away with NOS in germany but a turbo can't hurt

Fake BOVs, plastic intercoolers AND fake turbos. You name it and there is a mock up available for the ricer crowd.

How about the hubcaps/wheel covers that "disguise" cheap steel wheels to make them look like alloys...I've even seen them with fake brake calipers molded in!

Who said I'm a "ricer" and I'm installing fake parts?? The reason for asking this is because I'm looking for a proper solution and you guys just keep on hitting me with useless crap. Seriously, I don't get it.

Chill, trasher, read carefully, NO one here is saying you are a ricer. Everyone here are just having a go at what makes a "ricer". Join in the fun.

ROFL!

Now that is what I call farken farny.

TrAsHeR - the guys are just trying to keep you from going down the wrong path and ending up on the "dark side".

The sound you refer to is common among turbo heads. Yes - it releases exceess pressure from the intake when it is not needed. A bit like a wastegate, but I thought they are on the exhaust side.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Now here is some serious rice:

I still want to get the whirling noise that the rotors make --the flying saucer noise --to be louder outside so thatother drivers hear it. Dont think it will ever be possible to do it naturallyunless maybe another rotor is added.

sure there is... get rid of the resonators in the intake system, and replace your soft, stock paper air filter with something considerably more rigid (who was it that made that stainless steel mech one?? that's suppost to really amplify the intake whoosh noise)

Put in a Rotary Extreme CAI and it will give LOTS of buzz. The air cleaner is basically non-sound shielded from the engine bay like the way the stocker is. (The stock one is "sealed" inside the air box)

I had the RE one on mine yesterday and did a WOT drive by past Wildcard. He said he could hear me coming from 200m behind him. Then relative silence when I went past him - I had the stock exhaust on

Cheers.
Hymee.

Ok, sounds good. But what's the difference between those two:

Rotary Extreme Short Arm Intake
Rotary Extreme Ram Air Intake

The Ram Intake is more expensive and not available yet. Should I wait for that one or just get the Short Arm Intake?
