How does out washer fluid sensor work?

Just a quick question to see if anyone knows how our washer fluid sensor works?

Just asking as I have re-mounted it in my premix tank horizontally and it's always reading "empty tank". I'm trying to find out:

- does it need to be mounted vertically (from the bottom of the tank)?
- does it work as a "weight" sensor?
- is the liquid density relevant?
- any other thoughts?

Thanks for any help...

We have a washer fluid sensor??

Don't think I had one on my 05, and I ran out of fluid a few times. It just didn't spray anything. Maybe its a Canada thing since you get the headlamp sprayers?

it's a float im guessing, probably needs to remain vertical if its vertical already.

Just for everyone's benefit, it does need to be at the bottom of the tank
