Guys I've searched and read all the posts but I'm still lost. Exactly how the hell do you Dyno an RX-8. I'm Dyno'ing mine on Thursday, could some on tell me the exact procedure on what to do to trick the ABS & DSC when dyno'ing the car. And if it's a four wheel drive dyno does this have to be preformed. Thanks guys.

 

you don't have to do anything if you are on a 4 wheel dyno except turn off the DSC by holding the button for 8 seconds.

there are speed sensors on each wheel. to dyno the 8 you need to disconnect the sensors from the back wheels. you need a 10mm wrench i believe. you need to tie them up out if the way. also disble the dsc. then you MIGHT get a clean run.

 

I have mentioned this before and no one replied, but can't we just remove a couple of Fuses in the fuse box to disable these things for dyno?

 

The sensors on the wheels are powered by the ECU itself, and if you pull THAT fuse, you ain't going anywhere!

The rear wheel sensors are accessible from behind the car, 10mm bolts, then just wire them up, so they don't dangle in the wheels during your runs.

I BELIEVE that you also have to be quick, after 30 seconds at full throttle with no wheel speed detected, the ECU starts to get 'nervous'.

I heard you could run some jumpers from the front sensors to the rear so it thinks the front are running at the same pace. if someone can explain how I'll try all these methods, except taking out the fuse, and see what I get.

 

no it's much easier to just remove the rear sensors and wire them out of the way. maurice used to do it the way you mention at first doesn't anymore. like doctorr said and i mentioned - you still may have issues if you aren't quick about it. this pcm is too smart sometimes.

you should probably put in your stock intake box before going to the dyno shop. Dyno stock + borla as a semi-baseline...at least 3-4 runs (most people are dynoing w/ 3rd gear pulls). Then take off the stock box and put on the K&N intake and dyno again to see if the intake really makes the power that K&N says...no one has verified this yet. just remember to wait a few min before dynoing the intake as your engine gets heatsoak from the previous runs.

 

It's a tad bit of an inconvinence to take the stock one on and off, sence I just want to see what I'm putting out and not an actual gain from any specific part. But I will think about and ake sure I still ahve all the stock stuff.

 

I've got the tech service manual, but I don't know where to look. Could some one please explain to me where the sensors are located and how to remove them ore point me in the right direction in the tech service manual.

 

sorry guys, no numbers yet. The shop that was going to dyno the car canceled on me cause they are running behind. If anyone knows a Dyno in the NC Triad area please let me know.
