Help with transmission

My 2nd gear synchronizer I believe is shot. When I drive my car hard and go to 2nd it won't go in and grinds really bad until RPMs drop then it finally will go in. 4th gear is also kinda getting touchy every now and then to engage. From my research online people say its best to replace whole transmission. Is this true?

Automatic transmissions are best replaced with factory-rebuilt units, so they can be serviced by people who do nothing but fix transmissions, and so they can be tested. Manual transmissions are not so demanding, but yeah, you still need a mechanic who knows what they're doing. I take my car to an indy shop where they park the Ferraris and Lamborghinis next to each other, so I'm not worried about their skills. I sure as hell wouldn't get it serviced at a gas station garage, though.

do you have an manual Tranny? If so what transmission oil do you use? Try changing it out first, use redline MT90 with some Lucus fuel stabilizer, works wonders. I had that that same issue with 2nd gear grinding at higher RPMs. I also had issues with 5th gear and reverse, and I had royal purple prior to the tranny oil change. redline is great for brass syncros and i don't get those retarded grinds anymore search the forums, definitely alot cheaper than replacing a tranny.
