Help save my car from TS Fay!!

My car is in about to be under water. It has been raining for days and wont stop. Some towns are under water. I thought since I was beachside, that it couldnt come high enough since the water would flow into the ocean... apparently Im wrong.

theres an inch of water in my kitchen and rising, and if i move the car into the road, it will be about "steering-wheel" high. We already helped someone who tried to drive their car and flooded it (with water), push it into a spot.

So im trapped, the only thing i can do is try getting the car higher. It cant be moved so im pretty fukced.... so:
Anyone have any opinions on putting a car on jackstands for extended periods of time? I have 2 stands and one jack. I was thinking of putting the car up, one side on 2 stands, other side middle on the jack. T, . So. water will be up to the body in a few hours, opinions needed.

The flood water will knock the car off the jack stands depending on how high the water gets and by how fast the water is flowing so i say neagative on the jack stand idea

Get some cinder blocks (I've even used milk crates before) and jack the wheels up onto to blocks. Alternating sides get it up onto two blocks. Prop up the jack onto a platform of cinder blocks to raise up onto the second level.

I would also think it might be wise to stuff your air intake with plastic and also try to seal off the intake with tape and plastic wrap. If you think it might be wise to start at the throttle body, I would give it a try.

I can't imagine what you guys are going through... it would be horrible if I had to goto sleep knowing water was creeping into the house. I hope you and your family are safe during the storm.

Okay super serious question. I found a lot that is raised up and still not flooded. But to get there, i'd have to push or drive (probably push) the car through some possibly 1foot or more deep water.... Should i go for it, or leave it where it is and cross my fingers? What kind of damage could occur from pushing through deep water while car is not on??

Concur. It only takes 6" of flood water to 'float' a car. The danger in floods is not what may be perceived as relatively small height/volume but the significant, sudden, hydraulic pressure. Higher ground is the only real solution.

You've got insurance I assume. Let them total it, buy an '09 R3 and sell me your OZ wheels.

BTW, why not get the front wheels on the parking block and support the rears with something else?

Ouch, where in Central FL are you?

I'm near UCF and do not have that much water at my front door, YET! Hope that you and your family are safe during the storm. My car is in the garage, but I have an empty driveway you can use which will not flood.

No, i dont have any blocks. Made myself a raft out of a air mattress and found some higher dry pavement that the car could be pushed to in 5-10 mins. But it stopped raining so im keeping an eye to see if the water goes down. If it starts raining again ill probably move it.

As pointed out in the other thread

https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/hows-your-day-going-154272/

Keep a real close eye on it and the weather that might be coming. I wouldn't move it yet as it's slacked off down here and you may begin to drain.

For those who said....."No" to the jack stands. This isn't an issue where the water will be moving at all. Florida is pretty much very flat and this is just gradual rising water(where he is at). There would be no real harm in putting on stands for 12 or so hours. Hell............if it floats it off the stands, you're pretty much f*^&ed anyway!
By the way........you have a much better chance of it flowing to the river than the ocean.

Get some of that awater out of the house or is it getting worse?

Water started to lower down, moved to a dryer area, there is a dry road out of my place now, the main road still flooded though. But im at work, and car seems to have survived. Cannot say the same for my roomates altima coupe, which i dont understand at all... but its at his dealer now so we will see....

house has water damage on the carpeted first floor, but everything of value is on the 2nd floor anyway. And we rent, so the carpet will be fixed this weekend. My roomates gf said it was smelly but i went to work at 6:15am so i was too asleep to notice anything other than dodging pieces of tree on my way down the wrong side of the road to work.

There were cars parked in worse parking lots in my development that were low enough that the water went through the windshield/windows. There were also some areas that were never under water. Before this storm it all looked flat to me... now i see elevations of a few inches as something worth paying attention to.

Your area draining yet? I am getting confused between all the threads we made... Need to consolidate.
