It was really weird that when i went to go switch from 2nd to 3rd it like lagged out or something took like half sec to getback to normal then i was off and i wanted to see how high i could get it up too till i hit 135 and noticed it was getting real hot in the car. IDK i def will be calling mazda tom morning but im just nervous, this car is my baby man.

Code Reader;

The car was likely hot due to the AC turning off during acceleration (ahem.... in Hawaii).

Can go to any autozone to get the code read for free or get a Dashhawk; Scan Gauge to do it yourself.

Likely, a misfire - but who knows; that is why you get the code.

ok here comes the most stupidest thing u can ever possibly hear and i could shoot myself for this. my car was low on oil a couple months ago and i was reading the manual and i mis read what kinda oil i needed for the engine and got transmisson fluid and poured it in the engine. Anyways ya retard here but i was in a rush just got my rx8 a couple months ago and i thought for some fucked up reason that the oil would be diffrent for a rotory i dont no so ya i did that. and realized it like hours later but i drove the car for not even 3 mins while i did it. but it did sit in the car for abot 5 hours. got home drove it to an speedy oil they did a flush on it told me it was all set. do u think they were right or am i paying for it now? i mean i did what mazda said cause i called them and thatswhat they told me to do so idk man kill me

Probably not the end of the world; but seriously; come back with a code and you will have help for DAYS!

Over the standard; plugs, coils, wires, gas cap stuff; there isn't much anyone can do unless we know more info.

changed the title for you i notice that you posted at 12:40 AM my time on the west coast which means it was 3:40 am in New Bedford- so thats prolly why you didnt get any response ya know

so anyway what you have there is probably a misfire. sounds like you hit the wall at redline as you shifted.

i wonder if you got gas on the way home before this happened? because you mention that the light came on AFTER it was sitting for 3 hours.

What the hell, u pour Tranny oil into ur engine ? ..... Even u misread the manual, the Tranny oil bottle should tell say something like *TRANSMISSION OIL* somewhere ...

if I were u, I will just flush that crap like 10 times b4 I will take it out ...

75w90 oil is about the same as engine oil's flow rate 5w30 or 40 (I think). but the detergents and additives are completely different.

I bet you had a misfire. You just need to reset the ECU.

Read the sickies in the tech section.

I would change the oil agin to get that crap out.

come to find out i blew something in the fuel tank like a fuel cap or something busted so they replaced it. Thanks for everything to those of u who helped me.
For those of u who criticised me for the tranny fluid. Like i said i was in a rush read the manual wrong thought maybe a rotorary engine needed some crazy sorta oil. ya i fucked up shoot me but it will never happen again lol. my car is running great now thanks again
