Help please on 04 RX-8 4AT
Help please on 04 RX-8 4AT
Merry Christmass to all RX-8 family, I just want to ask about the quick upshift of my 04 RX-8, it is noticeable that even at low speed it gears up, is that normal, or is there any adjustment I have to make, thanks in advance.
The A/T will shift to the next gear up like any A/T when in Drive. You can find it in 4th gear at 30mph. It will also drop down a gear if you are in say 4th and you are slow enough and ask for more power it would shift to 3rd. If you are in Manual mode it will stay in what ever gear you select till you reselect, but it will drop down to 3rd if you push it and stay there till you select 4th. Its all in the manual.

Thanks for the prompt response, but mine is upshifting to third even if it is in 35km/hr only and thats my concern, my other a/t car on shifts up when you rev 4, but my 8 just keep on shifting up even at low speed.
It's going for the gas mileage. I put it in manual mode most of the time and keep the revs up. Keep it in drive till the engine gets good and warmed up, then you can rev it all you want.
My 03-model does the same.
Mazda do this to keep the rpm low to preserve fuel consumption.
Drive in "manual" mode & you will feel more at ease balancing rpm / speed / load. I DO.............
