Common problem. Take it into the dealer for replacement of the ****(s). There's a service bulletin on that for US cars.

EDIT: Here's the info on the service bulletin. Provide the info to the dealer.
Bulletin No: 07-003/03, Last Issued: 11/3/2003, "Temperature control dial and / or fan control dial break or come off"

Unfortunately, the bulletin is no longer on the finishlineperformance.com web site. To quote the initial sentences in the bulletin: "On some vehicles, the temperature control dial and / or the fan control dial break or come off. A reinforced replacement part is available to correct this condition." The bulletin goes on to detail the repair procedure. If the dealer is not aware of this bulletin, he can get a copy through Mazda. If for whatever reason he refuses to do that, PM me and I will email you a copy.

I try to save the TSB's, they do tend to go away from time to time.

Yes they do. Unfortunately, I save my copies in hard form so they're not as accessible.

BTW, Hows your rollbar/seats install coming?

Autopower sent one for a non sunroof 8 when I strongly said mine has a sunroof. Autopower is sending me another. ioportracing.com has been very good about this. I expect it in August.

Bummer! I expect you discovered that when trying to make it fit. Grrrrr.

I'm headed down to VIR at the end of August for an MDA event. This will be my first time on any track with the RX-8. Should be interesting. I haven't broken the news to my RX-7 yet?

Nope, other than to check with you dealer. The US cars did not come with automatic climate control, although I believe the '09 US cars will have that feature. Our source has US-only service bulletins, so perhaps there are equivalent bulletins for this problem in the UK cars.
