SK Headlight Washers

I am experiencing a headlight washer malfunction, has anyone had this problem:

They don't pop up! Am I doing something wrong? Checked all the usual suspects like fuse and breakers, all ok as I see.

Any suggestions?

the motor might have seized

I worked with some RX8 overseas and some just died. I haven't open them yet but if you checked everything (like it has power) , then it might be a good time to replace it.

Double click your washer switch and they should operate, or every 5th time you use your windshield washers they should also operate automatically.

The ignition switch must be in the ON
position and the headlights must be turned
on.
The headlight washers operate
automatically once every fifth time the
windshield washer operates.
If you want to operate only the headlight
washers, pull the windshield wiper lever
toward you twice rapidly.
Yep, thanks, your procedure appears correct, see above what S2 owners manual says, I guess S1 is the same, the parts are mostly identical.

Are your Headlamps ON?

I know with mine I have to pull the Windscreen Wiper Lever/ on Washers for 3 times quickly to get Headlamp Washers to function, not twice as the OM says.

The 5 times wiper washer thingy has never appeared to work on my S2??

So yes, I guess as JT says, all the usual suspects, like fuses would be first port of call, can you hear the motor Headlight Washer Motor spin?

Unfortunately none of the OE Parts are cheap..(new from Mazda Parts).

From memory they are specific for the RX-8, like the Bottle, separate Headlamp Washer Motor which is reasonably large/solid and about $450, then there is the electronic box/module, and that is another $350..I think, all these are next to and attached to Washer Bottle.

Then you have the Actuators/Sprayers in the Bumper...I think about $120 each.

wow, I didn't know how to use this function either.

great thread haha I literally just ran outside and started the car to see if it worked too!
double flicking the wiper switch works for s1 rx-8's
and the 5 usages works too. First time I ever used it since I bought the car lol
