Smile Govebox keep breaking

I have a 2008 GT and my center glovebox has broken 4 times. I don't even use it. However, it slides back and forth hitting my drink in the cup holder. Do anyone have any suggestions on what I can do or is anyone else experienced this problem.

Im on my 4th lid under warranty, they just are crappy like that. Buy one from the dealer. Most parts you buy from the dealer i.e.: headlights, bulbs, etc. usually come with 1 year warranty. The one I got now is fine. Sorry to hear that.

The center console lid is very cheaply made. Are you sure you are sliding it open all the way?

When it is working properly it stays open. Because it is my fun car not the one I used for everyday it is empty. The only time I ever close it is when I am cleaning the car on the weekends for the most part.

Cheaply made is a under statement.

It's a known problem. Here's a general thread about what it is, and various thoughts:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=100714.html

This thread describes a fix that should have worked but didn't:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...hlight=console

Here's a less elegant fix that also almost works:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=ghetto

I finally settled on the method described in Post #5 of the "ghetto" thread.
