Have a rattle in the passenger side dash, I believe it is this piece. Mine is very loose and moves around when i push the glove box door up some, is everyone's like this? I noticed when I have it open the rattle does seem to go away.

 

Not sure but many cars have them loose.

I would use some WD40 to stop the squeek.

 

That is the dampener for the glovebox door (without it, the door just slams open when you release it).

The part is only $15 or so if you need to replace it. But the only thing I can think if it is really loose is that the mounting on the top has come un-done.

 

You wouldn't have a part number for this? I was replacing my cabin filters today, and I noticed mine was broken.

 

This happened to me a few weeks ago when I brought my car is for an oil change. ( Had a coupon for $15.99) at a Mazda dealership. When they do their 'vehicle inspection' they broke mine when they checked the cabin filter. I didn't mess with it, I had them replace it.
