Gearbox Noise changing into 2nd

Does anyone else get a noise when changing into second and speeds higher than 9mph?

Sounds like a syncro spinning up. Gear change is still smooth and crunch free but this noise is annoying me.

No noise when cold, worse the hotter and longer I have been driving

I did read some posts about people using short shifters having more noise. I dont have a short shifter but I do have an illuminated gear knob.
I beleve the noise got louder after fitting it. I have checked the fitting and all the insulators are still in place asuming they are there to cancel out transfered noise from the gearbox.

I was thinking of changing the gearbox oil to Redline MT90

Thoughts anyone???

Probably sychros-change fluid anyways.

I seem to recall a few threads reporting the same thing as a known issue. Do a search and read them.

I switched to Royal Purple and could not believe the difference it made in the noise level coming from the transmission. I didn't realize it was that noisy until after the oil change.

Hi Go48, I did search this problem but could only find topics relating to either noise when in Neutral or transmission noise after changing to a short shifter.

Maybe I was searching the wrong keyword - Perhaps you can help me find the topic please :)

it's normal (in the sense that everyone has it)...it's a million times louder with the AFE short shifter installed, since it eliminates the factory damper.

Ok as long as its normal im happy again :)

I was sure I never heard it before tho just in the last few weeks.

Will be changing the oil for Red Line MT90 anyway after reading other posts

Good choice! I changed my fluid to MT90 and it was a huge difference for the tranny noise. Not only that, the tranny shifts like it's suspended in butter... mmmmm... butter...

What sort of noises were you getting before you changed your oil??
