Gauging interest is a Custom OEM spec MAF housing

I have designed and made my own custom Maf housing made for a custom build of mine, I have had some interest from others about making more.

so I was wondering if there might be others interesting in the same housing, I could make them longer if desired this one is 6"

these could be used to

make a Custom Cold Air Intake or Ram air

replace the Greddy turbo intake maf housing (kind of like the AEM CAI mod but much cheaper)

or Custom turbo intake for a top mount/midmout/rearmount

wasn't sure of the best place to post this,

Thanks for looking!

This might be a stupid question cause its not in your post. Can this be used on a stock intake? I would be interested in it for sure if it could.

I can't see why you couldn't use it that way, just trim it down a little and clamp it to the stock air box some how

So I just took some measurements the OD of my piece is 3.5, the id of the stock accordion coupler is 3.7ish so its loose, you could do it with a different coupler but then you would need to figure out three nipple pieces for the vacuum lines, OMP, JETAIR, and OIL Fill

Thanks 9krpmrx8

the more people I have interested the cheaper they become, I would like to keep them around 60-100

I also hear the Subaru imprezza guys use a similar MAF, but I doubt there ID for them is 3.375 like the rx-8 ones.
I am hoping to get interest from those folks too

take it to a hardware store and pick out a tap and tap new threads and buy appropriate bolts, for instance I used an m4 on my costume one

Fazda,

Why did you move your MAF so far upstream? Lower IAT's?

That would probably work, its just that the plastic is so weak if your not very careful I'm sure it would strip again in no time. I just found a slightly bigger screw when mine got stripped, worked great.

Too short and wrong diameter.
Double the length and the inside diameter has to be 3.375".

This is probably why your car has been so difficult to tune.

Sorry its being difficult, the ID is 3.375, also the maf sensor is in the exact middle of the airflow.
But your right jeff, a couple more inches in length wouldnt hurt, her much

Auzoom, i need more interest to have a bunch machined, and your it. Perhaps with jeffs help bhr could make some, i would be willing to share my drawings with them

That kind of an error is specific with emailing and not web browsing.

There simply could be an issue with the message. If you can't get something sent over to ray, drop me an email at todd@blackhaloracing and I can forward it to him.

well I was going to make a new one myself (all the pieces are readily available if you know where to get them), guess it just depends on how much extra you tack on top of the parts & labor cost, mine would be a custom length

I've run it less than 6" length each end NA without issue, otherwise it only matters if you put a reducer, elbow, etc. directly on it. If what you attach it to has straight length of the same diameter that counts toward the 6" length ....

The accordion coupler just needs to have the factory clamp replaced with an aftermarket clamp. I use the Comp Cams "Gator" clamps (from Summit Racing, Jegs, etc.) of proper diameter on all my air intake connections and they seal it no problem

.
