Gasket between Cat Pipe and 'Middle Pipe'?

got some exhaust work on the schedule tomorrow so I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a gasket between the Cat Pipe and 'Middle Pipe'. If so what type is it - a flat sheet metal type of those compressed O-ring shaped things. The manual shows nothing - a pic would be good!

cheers

Larry

Yes there is, you can see a photo of it HERE. Most of the time it can be re-used.

the cat pipe is the middle pipe

well the manual I have lists the Cat section (called TWC), then that joins to the 'Middle Pipe' as the manual calls it, then that joints to the 'Main Silencer' or rear muffler.

expo1 is this the thing? If its reusable I might wait to see if I can get away with that then.

it goes

headers, midpipe (cat), muffler (exhaust)...theres only 2 pipes after the header

the cat(midpipe) is connected to the header, then the exhuast (mufflers) is connected to the cat (midpipe).

^that gasket goes from the end of the cat (mipipe) to the exhaust (muffler).

the other thinner gasket you saw on the webpage is for the header to cat (midpipe).

Oh for COL - here - 3 pieces of pipe after the header if one also counts the muffler assembly as a pipe. The joint I'm concerned with is circled in RED...

That one is re-usable.....

hmmm i never really looked at 3 and 2 to be a separate piece...number 2 and 3 go together, and that piece your looking for is that ^^^^^one you posted earlier

cat to muffler is reusable!

It's made of steel mesh and should last forever, if treated right.

....also quite expensive if you DO need one (~$45)

Fluid Motorsports has a high performance crush gasket for $22.

btw: in your picture note the two O2 sensors (SST); just info since many folks ask about them.

Yeah I saw that but they don't have the OEM 'Donut' type and since the exhaust I'm fitting is a Mazdaspeed one - its attachments mimic the OEM stuff.

I got a replacement....(tho0ght it would fix a leak problem) from advance auto for 11 bucks

Okay its all done and the central gasket was indeed re-usable. 3 hours to get the old one off and 20 minutes to fit the new one (damn those rubber hangers!)

So I now have a single muffler Mazdaspeed Stainless Steel cat back fitted for the Grand total of $AUD178.00 - $40.50 for the unit itself - used previously for 1 hour - courtesy of Ebay - and $138.00 to courier the thing up from Melbourne.

Sounds great! Now looking forward to its first Track Day on Wednesday!
