G-Tech pro dyno graph
A couple people asked for this so here it is. I have made numerous dyno runs using a G-tech pro accelerometer. They are extremely accurate. I used them at the drag strip several times to get nearly identical results as the time slip. It's an excellent product IMO.
This graph was done in 2nd gear. I have tried various gears and roads with similar results everywhere. The 1st gear pulls give a lower horsepower but the dips are always the same. At 6200 rpm and at 7200 rpm the car hesitates enough that the butt dyno can feel it. Whatever is going on with these intake ports at these rpms is killing the power. I hope Mazda clues everyone in soon as to the cause of the low power. For the record, I took my car to the dealer and had it checked for a "high rpm hesitation. I was told there is nothing wrong with it.

You know, today while driving I was playing with the car a bit in some open roads, and I guess I'm probably imagining things, but I swear I dont feel that dip 6250, rather feel an actual stronger shove about 6700. Yes, I was looking at the tach those times, so it might very well be my wishful imagination, but tomorrow I am taking a buddy along and seing if he feels anything as a passenger.
Please dont yell at me and tell me I'm stupid, etc etc etc. I know it's probably my imagination, but would rock if it wasnt :D

I feel that extra power shove at about 6700 too. I think it's the contrast between the loss at 6200 and the power coming back at 6700. Some of the charts from the G-tech show the power actually dropping like the actual dyno charts but more subtle. I think the inertia of the car moving tends to smooth out the dips into flat spots.

That is what I am estimating too. I want to put it on an actual dyno but there are none nearby. As soon as I get the dyno printout the car will be back to the dealership if it is 20hp shy.
