As per the title, anyone tried it? I saw them on sale at Costco. Cheaper than the Castrol GTX.

 

SOPUS (Shell Oil Products US) has an interesting hierarchy for their brands.

For Gasoline engine oils in descending order of quality:
1 - Pennzoil
2 - Quaker State
3 - Shell

While a good oil that meets all the specs, Shell is at the bottom of the SOPUS Gas Engine Oil list.


Interestingly enough though for diesel oils, it is different:
1 - Shell Rotella and Rotella T
2 - Pennzoil Long Life
3 - Quaker State

In this case Rotella (and T) are much better that Pennzoil/QS. Rotella is one of the best, if not the best diesel oil out there and PZ/QS are more average in this domain.


I have been and continue to be an avid user of Pennzoil, Pennzoil Platinum, and Rotella Products, depending on the vehicle application.
