Fluid Confusion

OK So i am a little confused in regards to the Manual Transmission fluids, I thought that the Tranny needed 75W90 GL-4 Gear oil, but now after reading more, it sounds like thats for the Differential. So is the Tranny supposed to have MT90 and the Diff the 75W90? Its impossible to find GL-4 around town so ill Need to order it online somewhere. Also if I have been having a shifting problem (2nd gear catching) would you suggest replacing both fluids or will just the tranny be sufficent?

Thanks for the clarification.

MT 90 for the trans, 75W90 for the rear.

You think the oil threads are more numerous than the MPG threads?

In about a month the 'Fan still running after shutoff' threads will start showing up also.

The diff is able to use GL5. Mazda's manual calls for GL4 however there are plenty of good GL5's that are safe for the manual transmission. I've ran GL5 in my transmission for over 30,000 miles with great results. Best fluid I've ever used and I've used quite a lot in the 100,000 miles I've driven this car.

If you're ordering fluids it would be best to get something you can use for both your diff and tranny since many places only sell in 1/2 cases to make the price worth it.
