First Oil Change?
How many miles before the first oil change after break in? I looked in the manual and it says there is an oil change @ 7500 miles, but I figure there has to be one for post break in so you dont have oil with all those broken in particles floating around for for 7500 miles. I did a search for "first oil change miles" and got a bunch of threads that didnt have this answer.
thanks!

I have to take my car to the dealer on Monday because they have to touch up a scratch that was on the car when I took delivery. I will have right around 1000 miles and thought about havin the oil changed while I was there. My dealer is a good 45 minutes away and there are closer ones, but I trust them completely because I the owners niece is a really good friend of mine so I know they wont screw me over. My experience with them thus far has been superb. If i get it done, do you think its worth while to do the tranny and differential then too or should I wait til 7.5K to do that?

I did my first one at 1200 miles. Although the service mgr almost didnt want to take my money. He said I didnt need the first one until 3000 miles. I said , fine, but can I get one before then anyway.
I just had my "first free oil change" done today at 3500 miles.

I do agree, however, that the schedule is too long (30K miles), it is not as important as regular engine oil changes. I will probably have the trans/diff oil changed (dealer) at my next oil change (6000) or the following change (9000).
And the days of "greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes" are over for me. I'd much rather have the dealer do it (documented) and take responsibility for any screw ups (as I have done).
I have already bonded with the car. We are now inseparable.
