First cell in over 4 years. . .
Got into my car after work today fired it up and I believe it started in Limp mode. Sputterring, sounding like I've never heard it before and a flashing CEL. I shut it off, waited several minutes, tried again, same thing. I was 2 miles from my dealer so I decided to chance it. Got there never exceeding 25 mph, not my choice entirely, but the cars! And damn was the motor hot when I pulled in. . .
It has been kind of idling rough lately, backfiring more than usual. I was waiting until the end of the month before I took it in for the 30K service.
It's only got 29,500 miles, RB CAI, Hymee Catback, RP highflow cat, all the current flashes, and I'm on my 2nd set of plugs. I premix and only run Chevron plus.
Dealer's gonna call tomorrow. . . The cars paid for in 4 months and although I hope it's nothing serious, I don't think my feelings would be hurt if they told me I needed a new motor.

Dealer called. . .
They pulled codes which revealed 15 misfires on the leading end and
get this, 2054 misfires on the trailing. Yeah, I noticed the misfires but the car backfires all the time with the cat and catback system. I figured it was something else mostly because the performance hadn't really dropped off. . . but then again I don't autocross or race from stop light to stop light.
Compression was fine, but one coil was badly burned, and a different coil had a bad wire (cracked and rusty, according to the tech.) So they slapped two new coils in and it ran normally but still was misfiring. Decision is to replace all coils, wires, and put in another set of plugs. I'm going to have the 30K service done while it's there. They didn't have the wires in stock. . . so it'll be two more days.
Is there anything else anyone can suggest I have them check while plugs and coils are out? Oh and they are replacing my trans and diff fluids with red line again.

You depend your dealership to do services for you ? wow ... thats your first problem.
If you are really going to contribute to the Hymee Compressor fund, I suggest you do start doing maintenance yourself. and stop babying it ...
Good luck to your future ...

Thanks for your input. Please don't be disappointed if I disregard it. With several more months of payments, just over a year left on warranty, and a 4 year friendship with the technician that works on my car, the dealership will continue to complete the recommended service at the prescribed intervals.
