Filter relocation kits, experience with mazda

I have seen a good amount of threads here showing users who have installed these kits, and due to the location of the filter on the newer RX's i think this may be a worthwhile investment since I plan on doing most of my oil changes. My realy question is, what exactly is mazda's stance on something like this? I know that it is something that is directly linked to the engine, so I assume that they would totally be against it. Is my assumption correct that it would void my warranty?

Can't see why they would complain but they are looking at every reason to avoid warranty. You might have the dealer install the kit with the stipulation that they guarantee that it will not void warranty (in writing on the final invoice).

That's a good point, I suppose I can call and ask. I'm sure they will ask why I want to do it, which would lead me to say "So that when I change my oil..." and I have a feeling they will come back with "well it is probably best you come let us change oil so it is on record in case of warranty claims"

I will give it a shot though and report back.

yes because im sure you prefer to only change 3.5 quarts of oil with a quick change, as opposed to 5+ using an oil pump and jack. Oh but wait they rotate your tires for you, without a torque wrench. I think I will keep doing these things myself. As for if they void the warranty or not depends on the dealership, the one by me doesnt care as long as they dont catch a FI system or after market radiator and such. He did say the filter they find on it has to be equal to or denser than the OEM filter... you need to call and ask them.

Haha my thoughts exactly. I will give them a call later today. Either way I have about 2000 miles to think about it (just changed my oil yesterday )
