Fan running after shutdown
Fan running after shutdown
I was just wondering if anybody else has noticed their cooling fan running for a long time after shutting the engine off.
I parked my car this afternoon, went into a store for about 10-15 minutes, and the damn fan was still running when I came out. It wasn't even that hot here today (low 90's), and I wasn't really running the car that hard before parking it.
Anybody else experienced this???
Seems like an awfully long time for that to run.

Not that long, about 8min in the garage on a high 80s day. We hardly see 90 in central part of the Buckeye Nation of Ohio. I never understood why the fans on many cars continue to run on a radiator with no moving fluid and a still waterpump. Does this really have a colling effect? I don't imagine on any areas of importance like aluminum cylinder heads or rotary equivalents. I saw on one thread that a yearly coolant flush and change is critical for rotary longevity. Velovity red, R/B, 6spd, GT, 6disc.
all in a days work. I currently drive an "air powered" car, and it too is quite common to have the fan run for minutes after shutdown following a hard hot FL drive.
Mark, congrats on your national championship. As a Gator fan, i was rooting your way. My team is on a down tred unfortunatly. I hope your running back gets his act together however.:D
