Now that we've seen the parts, here's a link that shows how the auto rotary engine works.

Well, you can make the ports more rectangular for more area without changing the timing, but you mieght be surprised at how well they would work with a little timing change too.

I need a peri port expert's advise! The outside sleeve's ID is about 7/16 inch and the actual port is 3/16 inch (smaller than the 1/4 inch I previously thought) I would need a different carb or port it too.
jep, you could just use a dremel and make it more oval shaped (small change equals huge difference, eh).

as for jetting the carb, well... i'm not sure you'd HAVE to (depending on if it was a 20% increase in cross-sectional area, or 100%)... but it might be undercarbed to begin with, right?? hmmmmmmmm...

Sorry for being a noob but can you buy that kit or is it a complete custom job, either way I think its great :)

I'm confused. First, why did you pull the engine out of your RX8, and second, why is it so tiny? I mean I knew the Renesis was smaller than other engines, but man that's tiny.
Hey, it's a baby renesis, give it a few years, it'll grow up and be a bigger two rotor 239 HP, if it's a boy (M) or 197 if it's a girl (A). It's gotta get conected to a tranny to determine that.

wait a minute... are you telling me that boys have two more intake ports than girls, but girls are better for turbocharging??

Does it sound any different when its running than a standard .30 2 stroke?
The only 2-stroke engines I've been around is my truck's, it's a .15 modified racing engine. I don't know yet how it sounds as I haven't started them, I'd like to have a proper mount and a propeller so it doesn't overheat. Also, it doesn't have a filter for the carburator, I need to get one. I hope it sounds like a proper peri-port brap brap brap... Maybe it doesn't as it's supposed to idle at over 2000 rpm.

You can buy it complete at several hobby stores or ebay. Check www.towerhobbies.com or www.osengines.com and run a search on "wankel". they can be expensive though.

here's something else for you to see:

Yeah and their ain't nothing automatic about a female, alot of manual control is needed to get the motor running well with high rpms.

That is just way cool. I have often wanted to by one. It would be cool to by 2 and do lots of machining etc and siamese them into as 2 rotor!

Cheers,
Hymee.

BTW - Which piggy back should I use on it? And does it have "Safe mode" on the dyno. Dyno - yeah, show us some dyno charts! Hehehe.

Actually I did bought two and I'm trying to figure out how to convert them to one two-rotor! I'd need to remove the rear counterweight on one engine and the front of the other and somehow build something to join the eccentric shafts. I could join the carburators easily but the exhaust my need some modification for the two pipes to fit. AS you saw earlier, I'm also looking into porting.
There are some model airlplane engines that have fuel injection, I'd like to do that to the engine as well.
After doing all that I could build a model RX-8 or FD RX-7 with it! I'm just worried to do something wrong and break it.

Psylence 03-09-2004 07:24 AM

neit_jnf, you are my new hero. That sounds like a kickass project that I wish I had the ability to tackle!

racerdave 03-09-2004 09:22 AM

That's really cool... tho I'd be hesitant to do much porting on my own without really being sure port timing's not going to be affected. If you get it wrong, you've got a junk housing.

rotarygod 03-09-2004 10:01 AM

There is so little space to work with that I personally wouldn't port it. Maybe I would , I don't know. I am pretty crazy! My gut instinct says no though. I'd probably try to build a better intake and exhaust out of small stainless tubing first.

XeRo 03-09-2004 10:19 AM

what plane do you have that in...i sold my OS wankel cause the torque sucked and couldn't turn a big prop...and I don't fly the "little" planes anymore...i've "graduated" to 1/4 scale but still like to fly my Bridi Kaos pattern plane with it's Saito 120...no R/C engine beats a 4 stroke Saito...nothing!!

well, you can avoid changing the timing by expanding width-wise, or not worry about it and delay closing of the intake port a wee bit. that's all you ought to do.

if you're gonna make it a bi-rotor motor (hoooooly shit!! fastest RC car on the planet... definitely needs an RX-7 chassis), make sure to tune the exhaust too ;) haha...

ShadowX 07-21-2004 08:43 AM

Screw doing a 2 rotor, go all out and make a 4-rotor, the thing would make like 10 hp! Or just go straight out of control and make a 5 rotor, don't think that's ever been done.

neit_jnf 07-21-2004 12:37 PM

wow back from the dead!

These engines are hard to find used and can cost over $350 new a piece. For a 4 or 5-rotor I'd need 2 or 3 more, or close to $1000. I can buy a normal sized Mazda 13B for that! Good idea, but not very cost effective ;)

ShadowX 07-21-2004 08:17 PM

Yeah, but making an e-shaft for a real 13b is going to cost more than the engine itself. And like I said, it's never been done. I'd do it, but I have no fabrication skills.

neit_jnf 06-08-2005 02:54 PM

what happened to my pics!!!??? :(

Go48 06-08-2005 04:21 PM

Admins are aware of the "missing picture problem" with a number of threads and I think (hope) they are working the issue.

neit_jnf 11-18-2008 11:34 PM

flame me all you want but i'm bumping my very old old thread so more people can see the pics!! :D

also anyone can give me any ideas on joining them together and make a 2 rotor?
