engine whistle sound??

no i dont think anyone's actually found a solution from it...i know exactly what you guys are talking about too...my noise actually increased after installing a midpipe....same with my friend's 8...its likely a gasket leak but i've tried several different things to completely seal it but seems that it just keeps finding an opening....

in idle you can hear it. Not to be worried others have said.

I get that high pitched sound - and it comes from the intake (can be verified by placing a towel over the intake and the sound stops). I had that noise before the turbo too (with the revi intake)

I also have this noise.
6.8K miles
Just like orginal thread starter. Its not a belt I know what a belt sounds like. Only after I shift into a new gear and it normally lasts only a few secs then its gone til I shift again. Sounds just like my perpetual brake squeal but much MUCH more quiet, you almost cant hear it. With the windows up you will never notice.

there is a TSB on this, they claim it's normal, it's the sound of air going by some tube or something. I forget - but it's up on this site if you search for it.
Scott (Mazsport) installed a check valve, and I haven't heard the noise since, so I think that gets rid of it. PM him, he sells them direct.

I don't have an 8 yet, but I have the same drumroll type whistling on my accord. This occurred after installing an after-market intake, and upon searching, they mentioned on some forums that it is a normal noise of certain intakes. It happens on a pretty precise range of low rpm (2.5k area), in every gear, while on about 5-10% throttle. I don't know if this helps, but it sounds very similar.
