Question Engine ticking at 6000rpm ?

Hi,

I went to a dealer yesterday to test-drive an 04 Mazda RX8 with 37k miles on it (Automatic). Everything seemed to be in good condition plus it was a Mazda Certified vehicle with 8yr/100000mile powertrain warranty. However I just had one issue and URGENTLY wanted an opinion from all of you.

When I got the car up to around 6000rpm I heard a ticking sound possibly coming from the engine.
I don't know what the problem exactly is or if its normal. I couldn't find an available mechanic to have a look at the problem and get an advise, I will go back tomorrow and take it to a mechanic.

But I wanted an opinion from you guys, especially the ones who have had such a problem. I mentioned this to the dealer and he said if at all its a problem it'll be covered under the warranty. But I wan't to make sure I buy a car in good condition in the first place and not have problems from day one.

Awaiting your responses. Thanks!

Sounds like the infamous "Marbles in a Blender". Mine has done it too, but only after filling up with cheap gas. Check these threads for more info.
