engine oil issue
gdday lads
i think this topic cropped up once but would like to revisit it again.
do we have to use mineral oil instead of synthetic?
i thought it was just for the run in!
mates collecting their cars from mm.
could you get the offical word on this.
very much appreciated.
and those who switch from either oil.
did you find any significant difference.
thanks

The official word from Mazda if you ask often enough is don't use synthetic....the owners manual does not say this though. Earlier rotaries (according to Mazda) suffered oil seal failure if synthetic was used. The Renesis is more "tolerant" to synthetic, however I have documentation from Mazda that recommends you don't use it.
I have posted this info before. The body of opinion from a number of long time rotary users is that synthetic is okay to use, in both older rotaries and the Renesis....You must make up your own mind.
Gomez.
