Have you guys check your dip stick recently??

I've checked the stick just when I put in my previous tank of petrol (2weeks ago), and the reading was just slightly lower than the upper marking.
Today, just did a check and the marking is in the middle!! In between the 2 markings!
100km more and I'll be sending the car in for it's first servicing. You guys think I can just leave it or do i need to top up??

cheers

M-ster,

Very likely the conditions were different when you measured. Make sure you are consistent. Try the method in the owner's manual - make sure car is level, wait 5 minutes after stopping engine which has been running at operating temperature then measure. This way the oil is at the right level at operating temperature and given 5 minutes to settle in the sump.

As for topping up, I think 1/2 mark is plenty enough. Why top up then drain it all out next week?

Thanks Dave,Ringer,
I remembered I've read somewhere in here that half the mark is still ok. Just need double confirmation as I couldn't find that post.

Cheers.

Have you realised the engine oil selling in Japan is SYNTHETIC?!

MazdaSpeed Fully Syn SL rated 5-40W
Fujita Engineering Fully Syn ? rated 5-30W (I think)

Why Mazda sells minerals?

Talking

The dealer is Lancaster Madza in Lancaster Pa. Phone number is 717-569-7371. I pick up car this week and can report back the information I recieve. This is the reason I bought the car there as I could have gotten same deal at a dealer closer to home. The only thing you need to do is use Castrol oil every 5000 miles, you get a book with it and I think that when oil is changed person must sign the book, this is what I think ,will know for sure by Wensday or Thursday when my wife gets her new toy, hope I get to use it .

Cool Oil Warranty

Well we picked up our new red RX8 tonight. I said I would report back about the castrol oil warranty. I did not get the full package yet that comes in the mail but I was signed up , its called max pro. As long as you use castrol oil any kind you are covered for 10 years or 300,000 miles. If you use SYNTEC its 15 years or 500,00 miles. I will get the warranty certificate and warranty documentation in the mail. You must have your oil changed by a garage or dealer every 4000 miles and keep the receipts etc. When I get the other info I will pass that along too.
Hope I get to drive the car, if I can get it away from wife .
