Engine number
Would anyone be able to tell me where the engine number is located on the RX8 please?
I've go the intake off and the alternator out and I haven't been able to spot it yet. Is it on the cover, rotor housings or end plates?
thanks
Andrew

Thanks Go48 for responding.
I frequent this site because I'm building a tube frame sports car with a RX8 engine so I didn't have a owners manual.
Good news is that it can be downloaded.
To me the diagram appears to be refering to the space next to the 13B of the front rotor housing (the alloy bit). In my case there is no number there.
I can find a number on the top of the front plate on the plug side.
Its a 5 character code 4 numeric and one alfa in the format 9999A.
Could anyone confirm if that looks like a engine number format to them?
thank you
Andrew

What series/events are you going to run the car in? Sounds interesting.

Stand on the driver's side of the engine, so the driveshaft is to your right and the fans to your left. Find the dipstiock. Go left about 4 inches. You should find a marking like this: "mazda 13B xxxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxx is your number.

Thank you to everyone for responding.
Hopefully some circuit super sprint Go48.
Its definately not next to the 13B. I believe the engine is an early one ex factory.
The numbers on the front plate are the traditional characters made from dots like a needle point. I'd have to assume this is the identifying mark. If it wasn't unique it would be included in the casting and you wouldn't go to that effort.
