Today morning when I start my 8, the RPM was moving up and down between 2000 and 1000 while it was in idle. It kept moving up and down until I started driving. After I started driving the RPM movement was gone even when I stopped at a light. When I started the car in the evening after work the engine light came on and stay on until I got home. The dealer was close so I will drop off my car tomorrow but I was just wondering if anybody else had the same problem before and what was the problem.

Check your fuel filler cap. That'll throw a CEL. Was you AC on? That affects my idle slightly, too.

 

Were you in neutral when you had the idle problem? If it only happens in neutral but not in gear with the clutch down, you have a bad neutral switch. Common problem, and conveniently addressed by the recent "heat" recall. Check engine, may or may not be related.

Well I took my 8 to a dealer and they said one of gasket was broken and they replaced it. The light is gone now. The rpm was fluctuated when the gear was in neutral and AC was not on at that time. It stopped after I started driving and I just got the fuel tank recall done about 2 weeks ago. I told the service person and they said they can't replicate the problem and it is normal to have rough idle. I know it is kind of rough in idle but it was way more than normal but what can do if they can't replicate the problem. It looks like working fine for now. Thanks for your tips!!!!
