Question Engine Light!!!

I need help my engine Light turned on, on me again. It happened a little after I bought the car. I bought it used so I changed the oil, I noticed there was condensation in it, so I did the reasonable thing, I put a little bit of chem tool, ran it for 10min. drained oil, replaced with recomended, non synthetic. I drove it a little and it turned off on me. Cool, changed oil again because I'm **** about my car. I went to Nuremburgring, had a blast red lined a few times, but my engine light would flicker when i drove it Hard (I'm talkin about 80 in a 45 turn hard, pushed it to it's limits). then Finally it just stayed on. ??? I'm really lost, any body know what it could be? the oil is only at 1.5k, and looks clean and at the right level. is it my O2 or my plugs?

PS: engine has 15k miles on it

Welcome to the best forum in town!

Since your CEL is on you should have a dealer or someone with a OBDII, CAN-compatible reader pull the DTCs. That will tell you where to look for the cause of the light. A momentary flash of the CEL while you are getting on it is usually indicative of an intermittent misfire. As far as the condensation goes, if it was it on the dipstick or oil filler tube or cap, that is pretty common and not a problem. Read the sticky thread about gunk in the oil. This is the link to that thread:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/strange-gunk-oil-dipstick-info-questions-49652/

Do some searching and reading when you have questions. There is a wealth of information on the forum and just about any problem you have has already been discussed--most of them multiple times and in great depth.

could be as simple as a loose gas cap, could be something else, you should be under warranty, have them check it out.

Welcome

Yeah I took it to the Dealership today and they said it was a misfire, nothing more nothing less. They told me to change my oil thought because of the driving conditions here in Germany. Intstead of 5W20 regular he said to use 5W30 Synthetic. It's in the Dealer ship manual. I had him print out a copy for me so I can post out soon for every body. What was explained to me was that 5-20 is good for normal bumber to bumper stateside driving (Max speed limit 65mph) We sometimes have to speed limit so We go as fast as we want.

By the way She tops at 160mph
Thnks alot for the help!

Arrow Not your oil....

It's obviously not an oil problem, there are no codes related to using synthetic!

Would like to see the German synthetic recommendation sheet, but I'm afraid I have to call BS on the 160 mph top speed!

There is no way you went 160mph (That would be 262kph in Germany)
.....not in an RX-8, sorry.

There are no service interval related CEL codes.

If this was a mis-fire it was a P0300/301/302.

Oil level or dino/syn had nothing to do with it.

I hit 151, and I still had a bit to go on the Tach to hit red, I just ran out of runway, It's more estimated but it seems about right. No BS on 151mph.

That sounds more right unless they got a lot more power on us.

The car usually tops out at around 150 stock so...
