Engine Fluid Temps

Engine Fluid Temps
I just wanted to share some data I collected today. The 8 reported an outside temperature of 78 degrees. The airport which is the official reporting station is 22 miles away to the north, and it reported 85 degrees.
After several years of ownership this is the first season since I installed the guages this winter. The body has 78k on her, and the engine has less than 20k. After a ten minute warm up A/C blasting I headed towards the interstate, which is 4.1 miles away, 35 mph with 5 stop signs along the way. Pulling out of my drive, the water temperature was 184 degrees and the oil was 143. by the time I reached the interstate I was at 194 and climbing. By the time I reached to toll road 3 miles away I was pushing 200 with an oil temp of 200. A mile into the tollway I was at 204 and 200 perspectively. I decided to shut off the air and run the vent mode only. As predicted the temperatures came down to 184 degrees. The oil dropped to 190. I switched the air back on, and it stabilized at 184 at 75 mph. Idling the temp never exceeded 211. degrees.
With the exception of the guages, the car is completely stock. I measure the water temp via a racing beat adapter at the heater core. I measure the oil temps just before the 1st oil cooler at the cooler. No dramatic news here, but as the temperatures increase I plan to do this and see how the car handles the heat. This may be of some use to some of the newer folks. If you don't have guages and were just curious, well there you go.
