EGR valve cleaning

I suspect that my EGR valve and solenoid are cloaked due to carbon build up.

Could anyone drop some advice on how to disassemble and clean it? and what parts to clean?

Very possibly to be false positive but I can't tell. I thought that if I clean that valve and solenoid and see if something changes, I will conclude if it is true or not.

What do you think?

I don't know. My only source to investigate this is Google but I haven't found anything specific to RX8. A mechanic has adviced me to disassemble the valve and clean it with kerosine. He is not very familiar with RX8 though.

From the reactions here I guess that it must be a false code? Can someone be kind and explain why with a few words? Not all of us here have the same knowledge.

"404" was a clue:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:rx8club.com+EGR

There is no EGR valve. I wish I could help you more about the code, but I have no point of reference.

EDIT: I see you've already been through this discussion:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/p403-exhaust-gas-recirculation-circuit-malfunction-209753/

It would be nice to have a definitive answer on a p0403 error code.

When you check out that EGR valve go ahead do a valve adjustment at the same time.

Actually, the RENESIS does have Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), it is just an internal one just like previous rotary's with no "valve".

The rotary has always had internal EGR to aid combustion, but the RENESIS greatly reduced (from the elimination of the port overlap) the internal amount of EGR flow for better combustion stability at low volume flow (idle) and better combustion efficiency.
