Ecu/years

the ecu in my 2004 rx8 took a s+++ yesterday. can i use any year through an '08 ecu?

Depends on your relationship with your dealer.

wow,

all that info..

it is a yes and no question.. yep, you can use any ecu from 04 to 08.

but getting someone to program it to work is the issue.. and it did not take a ****.

you messed some **** up..

I didnt do anything to the car. I was driving and everything shut off on me, car threw itself into security. Shop says the ecu's fried. So if i get a different ecu, it will have to be programmed? what kind of programming will it require?

The kind that only can be preformed by a Dealership. You should stop by there Tuesday with 2 dozen doughnuts and coffee and make some friends.

Shop?

As in 'not a dealership' shop?

You can't go by what a local mechanic knows about that ECU - there are multiple fuses involved, might just be one of them.......
