Dreaded Flooding - Advice Requested

Damn. I made the mistake of pulling my '05M out of the garage and leaving it there all day. Now, 'Engine Cranks, Doesn't Start', as they say. Car towed to dealer awaiting time on Monday to deal with it.

Is there anything I need to say/do to make sure the dealer goes to the extreme with repairs/upgrades? I'd like to make sure that he doesn't simply bleed the system and return it to me without upgrading the battery/starter/plugs if that is ideal.

make sure you see the new part numbers on the invoice. Then look for a new Batt and the new Starter. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...4-05-1448e.pdf explains what they should do.

Thanks, Expo1 - I've saved the TSB. As mine is an '05, the new starter and battery looks to have already been integrated into my production run....we'll see.

BTW - do you have the URL for the Mazda site where I can enter my VIN to determine which TSB's are recommended?

I do not know of such a URL, but HERE is where you can find most of them. Please keep in mind TSB's do not apply to every car. If you don't have the symptoms, you don't need the TSB.

Did you try choking it (by holding the gas to the floor) before towing it?

it doesnt matter. I have a 05 as well. According to the TSB Im "suppose" can ONLY get the new leading plug. but when I was in for service 3 days ago, I told them I have hard start ..... got my car back yesterday , they changed the starter and plugs, new PCM update "S" flash I suppose.

the starter starts much much faster and sound alot better than the old ones.

So .... but since u already flood ur engine, that should be "more than hard start". just tell them to replace the plugs, starter, and flash your PCM. They cant say NO.

Thanks, all. Looks like I've got a good claim for the TSB's regarding the 'Engine Cranks, No Start' and 'Break Squeal'.

I have to say that a BMW dealer would have had my BMW's in/out of the shop in one day; but the fact that Mazda needs more time to even look at this car does leave me better prepared.

Thanks again.

I leave my Mazda dealer in 1 day, it just depends on the load of the dealership, and is the parts "on order" or "in stock"

Last time was the only time that I left my car for more than 1 day, reason was parts wasnt there.

You have to learn more about your car, tell them (dealership) excatly what they need to do, that will save ya lots of time.

Flooding TSB completed. Car starts normally but feels so much cleaner and happier through the rev range with these new plugs.

Dealer tried to convince me that the brake squeal is normal and to side-step that TSB.....even denied it existed. It must really irk these guys to have a well-informed 'customer' who can quote the TSB # and date from memory. I do have to take the car back to them to have that work performed but in the end, it will get done on Monday while I wait.

Unfortunately, I don't see a TSB for the rusty rear rotor hubs.....

Yeah, great idea. "Tell" the dealer exactly what to do. That will get you far.
